Dear Ethanology Community,
Business, for us, is a catalyst for change. A medium, and mechanism, for doing good. For our community, our planet, and the people who make our products a possibility.
Since inception, our founders have focused on a better way. Hyper local, family owned supply chains. Sustainable, environmentally friendly packaging, and processes. Livable wages, better benefits, and a company culture that is creative, empowering, empathetic, inclusive, intentional, and transparent. A way of doing things that just made sense.
After a year of vigorous objective assessment, documentation, and verification, we have officially become a Benefit Corporation, also known as a B Corp.
It is a fact that we live in a capitalistic world. A society that places power with businesses, not people. At Ethanology, we believe that with that influence comes responsibility. We must be the impetus of change. Driving social progress, advocating sound science, human and environmental rights, and most importantly community engagement, involvement, and impact. It starts in small towns. It starts with small family owned businesses, like ours. It starts with you, and us, together, with a shared vision of the future.
We are living proof that anyone with the will, and willingness to put in the work, can produce products with integrity, intention, and quality, all while taking care of the planet, and each other.
Proudly, we are the 1st distillery in the state of Michigan, the 8th distillery in the United States, and only the 22nd in the world to achieve a B Corp certification. For clarification, this is not some fluffy marketing tool, or subjective medal. We put in the work, opened up the entire business for scrutiny, and criticism.
This certification requires us to change our legally binding corporate bylaws. Considerations for stakeholders, the environment, and our community, are baked into our decision making process. Balancing profit, purpose, and responsibility. Something we have always done.
Importantly, B Corp provides metrics, tools, and detailed analysis, to better understand our current framework. The assessment sets clear, objective, and achievable goals for improvement, and each business must recertify every three years.
Our focus on creating the world’s finest spirits, sourced from sustainable, family owned farms, has never been sharper. Our founders have set a clear, concise direction, ensuring the values they share today, are ingrained into the Ethanolo¿y of tomorrow.
Be Good,
The ¿ Family
